Apple is reportedly venturing deeper into AI-powered robotics, with prototypes ranging from tabletop assistants to humanoid robots. According to sources, the company is testing devices that could arrive as early as 2026, though release plans remain unconfirmed.
One standout concept, codenamed J595 and nicknamed the “Pixar Lamp,” features a swiveling screen mounted on a robotic arm. The device can track user movement, respond to conversations, and use facial recognition combined with motorized gestures to create lifelike interactions.
In addition to this assistant, Apple is said to be exploring mobile bots and humanoid robots aimed at industrial and household use. All prototypes would reportedly run on ‘Charismatic,’ Apple’s new internal platform designed for voice control, personalized content, and smart home integration.
Apple has not officially announced robotics products, but CEO Tim Cook has repeatedly emphasized the company’s AI ambitions. Analysts suggest Apple’s focus on privacy, design, and hardware-software integration could give its robots an edge if they ever launch.
Experts caution, however, that humanoid robots remain far from mass adoption. Gary Marcus, AI researcher and NYU professor, noted that Apple’s approach could push the field forward but practicality will be the true test.
