Assam Rifles Attack Manipur occurred early Friday morning when a 3 Assam Rifles patrol was ambushed near Saibol village in Tengnoupal district along the India-Myanmar border. Four personnel sustained injuries in the attack. The incident took place roughly 40 km east of the district headquarters.

Officials said armed assailants fired on the patrol from multiple directions using sophisticated weapons and explosives. The team responded immediately with controlled retaliation to protect themselves and nearby civilians. Additional troops were deployed to secure the area and support ongoing operations.

The injured personnel suffered splinter wounds and were rushed to the Military Hospital in Leimakhong, Kangpokpi district, for treatment. Security forces launched combing operations to locate the attackers. Local police are working to reach the site, though poor connectivity has delayed access.

No group claimed responsibility for the ambush as of Friday evening. Authorities are investigating possible insurgent links and monitoring intelligence for similar threats along the border. The Ministry of Defence emphasized that all necessary precautions are being taken to ensure troop safety.

This attack highlights ongoing security challenges along the Indo-Myanmar border, where insurgent groups have previously targeted paramilitary teams. Assam Rifles has increased patrolling and strengthened surveillance in vulnerable areas to prevent future incidents. Local residents were advised to remain indoors while operations continue.

Officials confirmed that the incident remains under investigation, with particular focus on the attackers’ identities, arms, and affiliations. The Assam Rifles continues to coordinate with local police and other security agencies to maintain stability and protect border communities.
