RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is scheduled to meet nearly 1,200 prominent intellectuals in Kolkata on December 21 as part of the organisation’s nationwide centenary outreach. Sources say the invitee list includes teachers, educationists, writers, film directors, and cultural figures. The Kolkata event is part of the ‘Vyakhanmala’ lecture series, earlier held in Bengaluru and Delhi.
The initiative aims to present the RSS vision of a “samridh Bharat” and India’s aspiration to become a “vishwaguru.” Attendees will participate in day-long sessions and have direct interaction with Bhagwat. Kolkata is the third city selected, with Mumbai expected to host the next edition.
According to insiders, discussions may cover wider societal themes, including demographic changes in Bengal. The timing of Bhagwat’s visit is drawing attention as it coincides with the nationwide special intensive revision of electoral rolls and ongoing debates over infiltration and demographic shifts in the state.
With elections approaching, the presence of the RSS chief is being viewed as strategically significant, with organisational cadres tracking developments around the December event.
