Six Bengaluru Revenue Officials Suspended for Issuing Khatas in Illegal Layouts
The Greater Bengaluru Authority has suspended six revenue officials for allegedly issuing khatas in illegal layouts, a violation that has raised concerns about irregularities in land administration. The action follows an inquiry triggered by a complaint filed by Mohan Babu in April 2025, prompting authorities to investigate the approvals granted in non-regularised areas.
According to officials, the suspended staff were found to have facilitated khata issuance without proper verification, enabling unauthorized developments and potentially misleading property buyers. The inquiry report recommended strict disciplinary measures to curb such malpractice and uphold the integrity of urban planning processes.
The Authority has also reiterated its commitment to preventing illegal layouts by strengthening monitoring, documentation protocols, and accountability mechanisms within revenue departments. Citizens have been advised to verify land records and approvals through official channels before purchasing property, ensuring transparency and avoiding legal complications.
