Congress leader questions fairness of elections, raises concerns over ECI conduct
A senior Congress leader on Friday alleged that the Election Commission of India (ECI) failed to conduct the recent elections in a free and fair manner, raising concerns over alleged irregularities during the polling process. Addressing the media in Vizianagaram, the leader claimed that several complaints submitted by the party regarding voter list discrepancies, malfunctioning electronic voting machines, and violation of the Model Code of Conduct were not adequately addressed by the authorities.
He said the Congress party had documented instances where voters were allegedly denied their right to vote and accused ruling party leaders of influencing voters in sensitive areas. The leader demanded a thorough and transparent inquiry into the alleged lapses and urged the ECI to uphold its constitutional responsibility to ensure impartial elections.
Reiterating the party’s faith in democracy, he said Congress would continue to raise the issue at appropriate forums. Meanwhile, Election Commission officials have maintained that the polls were conducted strictly in accordance with established rules and procedures, ensuring transparency and fairness throughout the electoral process.
