Rajasthan librarian reservation violation came under judicial scrutiny after the Rajasthan High Court stayed librarian appointments. The court found that authorities failed to follow the mandatory 12.5 percent reservation for ex-servicemen.

Justice Ashok Kumar Jain passed the order while hearing a petition filed by Sunil Kumar and other ex-servicemen. The petitioners challenged the recruitment process for librarian posts. Their counsel, Ram Pratap Saini, argued that the reservation policy was openly ignored.

The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board advertised 527 librarian posts. However, officials reserved only nine posts for ex-servicemen. The petitioners said this number violated statutory reservation norms. The court agreed and sought replies from the state government and the selection board.

The board issued the original recruitment advertisement on December 11, 2024. Nearly a year later, on November 28, 2025, it released a revised notification for the examination. The revised plan proposed recruitment on 600 posts. These included 527 posts for non-scheduled areas and 73 posts for scheduled areas.

Despite the increase, authorities allotted only nine general category posts to ex-servicemen. They did not reserve any posts for ex-servicemen in other categories. The court directed that authorities must not appoint candidates from other categories on these posts until further orders.
