Assam allocates land for TTD’s maiden Lord Venkateswara temple in Northeast
The Assam government has allotted 25 acres of land to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) for the construction of its first Lord Venkateswara temple in the northeastern region of the country. The decision marks a significant step in expanding TTD’s spiritual outreach beyond southern India.
According to TTD officials, the land has been identified at a prominent location in Assam, with the State government extending full support for the project. The proposed temple will be developed following Agama traditions, similar to the Tirumala shrine, while also accommodating facilities for devotees, including pilgrim amenities and cultural spaces.
TTD authorities said the temple would help cater to the spiritual needs of devotees in the Northeast and promote cultural integration. The project is also expected to boost religious tourism in the region.
Expressing gratitude to the Assam government, TTD officials said preliminary planning and surveys would begin soon, with construction to be taken up after completing statutory and administrative formalities.
