The Aravalli mining row Congress leaders has sparked fresh political tension across the country. Social media campaigns and street protests have intensified over the future of the Aravalli range. Senior Congress leaders, including former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, have shared visuals online while attacking both the Centre and the state government.
Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie addressed a press conference at his Alwar office and made strong allegations against the BJP. He said the government was destroying the Aravalli hills to benefit selected interests. Julie described the Aravalli range as a lifeline for four states—Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi, and Haryana. He said the hills stop desert expansion and help recharge groundwater.
Julie clarified that the Congress government never approved new mining in the Aravalli region. He stated that Congress only supported the continuation of existing mines under strict rules. He accused the BJP government of preparing a new proposal that allows fresh mining activities. He warned that such plans could severely damage the fragile ecosystem.
He announced that Congress would soon launch a public movement to protect the Aravallis. Protests will take place from streets to Parliament. Julie also said the government was misleading citizens. He stressed that millions depend on the Aravalli ecosystem, which supports wildlife and major tiger reserves like Sariska, Ranthambore, and Mukundra.
