Jaipur: In a shocking medical case, doctors at a private Jaipur hospital removed nine unusual objects from a 26-year-old man’s stomach, including seven toothbrushes and two iron nails. The man, who had traveled from Bhilwara, was admitted on December 26 complaining of severe abdominal pain.
Senior gastro surgeon Dr. Tanmay Parik said initial sonography revealed the foreign objects inside his stomach. “We attempted endoscopy, but the items could not be removed that way,” he explained. Doctors noted that the patient was mentally disturbed, which led him to swallow inedible objects.
The surgical team decided to perform open surgery. Over two hours, they successfully removed seven toothbrushes and two iron nails. Dr. Alok Verma, the anesthetist, and other medical staff played a crucial role during the procedure.
Dr. Parik confirmed that the patient’s condition is now stable. “We are also monitoring his mental health closely to prevent any recurrence,” he added. Hospital authorities emphasized that cases like these, though rare, require both surgical precision and psychological care.
This unusual case has left medical staff astonished and highlights the importance of mental health support alongside emergency surgical intervention.
