Parliament Laws Opposition Hurts federal structure, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said while attacking the Punjab government and opposition parties. He called the resistance to laws passed by Parliament unconstitutional and harmful to democracy.
Addressing a press conference in Bhopal, Chouhan said every state must respect laws cleared by Parliament. He warned that opposing central laws through assembly resolutions weakens India’s federal framework. He added that such actions promote political anarchy rather than democracy.
The Union agriculture and rural development minister criticised the Punjab Assembly for passing resolutions against central laws. He said this trend could spread further. He warned that local bodies might begin opposing state laws, damaging constitutional order.
Chouhan also targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He said Gandhi lives in an imaginary world and remains disconnected from ground realities. He dismissed claims about governance without cabinet decisions as misleading and irresponsible.
Raising corruption concerns, Chouhan alleged irregularities in Punjab’s MGNREGA implementation. He said social audits occurred in only a few gram panchayats. These audits exposed thousands of financial violations. He claimed authorities took no recovery or action.
The minister also criticised West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He said some leaders remember faith and temples only during elections. Chouhan accused the opposition of skipping parliamentary debates and spreading false narratives outside.
He said the government remains committed to farmers, workers, and rural development through accountable governance.
