Amit Shah attacks Bengal government over alleged illegal infiltration, calling it a serious national security concern. Addressing a press conference in Kolkata, the Union Home Minister accused the Mamata Banerjee-led government of allowing infiltration to strengthen its vote bank.
Shah warned that West Bengal’s demography is changing dangerously and described the situation as alarming for the country. He said infiltration is not limited to the state and impacts national security. Shah claimed the BJP would identify and expel illegal immigrants if it comes to power after the 2026 Assembly elections.
He also criticised the state government for delaying border fencing work. Shah said the Border Security Force cannot secure borders without proper fencing and land access. He added that the Centre has written several letters seeking cooperation from the state government.
Questioning the role of local administration, Shah alleged that documents seized from illegal immigrants across India originated in West Bengal. He said this raises serious concerns about administrative complicity.
Reassuring the Matua community, Shah said the BJP will protect all religiously persecuted refugees. He claimed no force can harm them under a BJP government.
Shah also targeted the Trinamool Congress on corruption, unemployment, women’s safety, and infrastructure issues. He predicted a two-thirds BJP majority in the 2026 elections. Shah is currently on a three-day visit to the state to review election preparations.
