The new year has begun with an inflation shock as oil companies raised commercial LPG cylinder prices. From January 1, 2026, the price of the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has increased by ₹111. The hike has taken effect immediately across the country.
This rise will increase operating costs for hotels, restaurants, and small businesses. In Delhi, the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder now costs ₹1,691.50, up from ₹1,580.50. In Kolkata, the price has risen to ₹1,795 from ₹1,684. Mumbai now pays ₹1,642.50, compared to the earlier ₹1,531. Chennai has also seen a similar increase.
According to Indian Oil Corporation, this is the highest commercial LPG price in Delhi since June 2025. The increase follows minor price cuts in recent months. In December, the rate fell by ₹10, while November saw a ₹5 reduction.
Commercial LPG cylinders are widely used in the food and hospitality sector. As a result, experts expect pressure on food prices in the coming weeks. However, domestic consumers have received some relief.
The government has not changed the price of 14-kg domestic LPG cylinders. In most cities, household gas prices remain between ₹850 and ₹960. In Delhi, a domestic cylinder costs ₹853, while Mumbai users pay ₹852.50. Other cities continue to see stable rates.
