New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday carried out searches at the residence of Delhi minister and senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bhardwaj in connection with an ongoing money laundering probe. Officials said documents and digital devices were seized during the raid, which began early in the morning and continued for several hours.
Reacting sharply, AAP condemned the action, calling it a “diversionary tactic” by the central government to shift attention from pressing national issues. Party leaders alleged that the ruling BJP is misusing investigative agencies to target opposition voices ahead of crucial elections. They described the raid as “politically motivated harassment,” claiming Bhardwaj has always maintained transparency in his public life.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), however, countered these allegations, insisting that the ED raid was based on credible evidence of corruption. BJP spokespersons claimed that a “major scam” linked to irregularities in contracts and fund management had come to light and that Bhardwaj would have to answer serious questions.
The raid has triggered another round of political sparring between the two parties, with AAP framing it as an attack on democracy, while BJP maintained it was an essential step toward accountability and justice.
