CM Revanth Reddy Questions PRLIS Cost, Challenges Former CM KCR to Debate in Assembly
Telangana Chief Minister R. Revanth Reddy has challenged former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) to appear in the Assembly and discuss issues related to the state’s water projects. The CM alleged that the sharp increase in the cost of the PRLIS (Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme) from ₹32,000 crore to ₹84,000 crore was due to the lure of “commissions” and questioned the transparency of the project under KCR’s tenure.
Mr. Reddy stated that the government will conduct a thorough inquiry into the PRLIS cost escalation to hold accountable those responsible. He emphasized that while criticism of former leadership is legitimate, direct debate in the Assembly is the proper forum for discussing such serious allegations.
The CM’s remarks come amid growing political tensions in Telangana, with former CM KCR and his supporters expected to respond to the accusations, potentially intensifying the discourse on governance and water management in the state ahead of the next elections.
