In the Delhi HC notice in IRCTC scam case, the Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on a petition filed by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. The court has asked the agency to submit its response to his plea challenging the trial court’s order that framed charges against him.
Tejashwi Yadav moved the High Court seeking relief from the charges framed by a lower court in October last year. He claimed that the order was legally flawed and requested the court to set it aside.
Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma heard the matter and directed the CBI to file its reply. The court has scheduled the next hearing for January 14. On the same day, a similar petition filed by RJD chief and former railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav will also be heard.
The IRCTC scam case relates to alleged irregularities in awarding contracts for two IRCTC hotels during Lalu Prasad Yadav’s tenure as railway minister. The trial court had earlier framed charges against Tejashwi Yadav, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, and several others.
The High Court did not grant any immediate relief. However, the Delhi HC notice in IRCTC scam case marks an important step in the legal proceedings.
