Delhi Court Frames Charges Against Lalu Prasad, Family in Land-for-Jobs Scam
A Delhi court has framed charges against former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife and former CM Rabri Devi, their son Tejashwi Yadav, and several others in connection with the alleged land-for-jobs scam. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had filed charge sheets accusing the accused of manipulating government land allocation to secure jobs for relatives and associates in exchange for favours, causing significant loss to the State exchequer.
The case, which has been under investigation for several years, involves allegations of corruption, criminal conspiracy, and abuse of official position. The court’s decision to frame charges marks a crucial stage in the trial, allowing proceedings against the accused to move forward.
Legal experts noted that the framing of charges does not imply guilt, but provides an opportunity for the prosecution to present evidence and examine witnesses. The next hearings will focus on evidence presentation, arguments, and cross-examination in the high-profile corruption case.
