Near-Zero Temperatures Grip Rajasthan and Haryana; Gurugram Records Frost
Near-zero temperatures continued to grip parts of north India on Tuesday, with Rajasthan and Haryana experiencing intense cold conditions, while Gurugram recorded frost as the mercury dipped to 0.6°C. The severe cold wave disrupted daily life, particularly during early morning hours, as residents remained indoors and traffic movement slowed due to reduced visibility in some areas.
In Rajasthan, several districts reported minimum temperatures hovering close to the freezing point, intensifying cold wave conditions. Haryana also remained in the grip of biting cold, with Gurugram witnessing one of the lowest temperatures of the season. Weather officials said clear skies and dry northwesterly winds contributed to the sharp drop in night temperatures.
According to the India Meteorological Department, the minimum and maximum temperatures in the region are expected to be around 4°C and 20°C respectively on January 13. Authorities have advised people, especially the elderly and children, to take precautions against cold-related illnesses. The cold spell is likely to persist for the next few days before gradual moderation.
