The UK government unveiled plans to attract global talent in artificial intelligence, life sciences, and clean energy. Chancellor Rachel Reeves will promote the strategy at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The Treasury said Britain will reimburse visa fees for selected deep tech specialists. The scheme also targets staff joining high-growth companies. Officials will introduce a fast-track process for sponsor licenses. The move aims to speed up business expansion across the country.

Reeves said the government wants Britain to offer stability, talent, and capital. She urged global executives to choose the UK for new investments. The government hopes the plan will support economic growth targets.

Britain expects stronger growth than major European peers in 2025. However, forecasts suggest it may miss Labour’s G7 growth ambition.

Reeves arrived in Davos amid tensions with the United States over Greenland. President Donald Trump threatened tariffs on European allies, including the UK. Prime Minister Keir Starmer said a trade war would harm all sides.

The government also plans stricter immigration controls. Officials face pressure from Reform UK. Lower migration could reduce future tax revenue.

Reeves is also repairing ties with wealthy investors. Recent tax reforms triggered concerns about capital outflows and talent loss.
