NIMS Hyderabad Opens Stem Cell Centre of Excellence to Tackle Lifestyle Diseases
The Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad has launched a Stem Cell Centre of Excellence to advance research in regenerative medicine and help address the rising burden of lifestyle and chronic diseases in India. The new facility was inaugurated by Telangana Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha and developed in collaboration with biotechnology partner Tulsi Therapeutics, with the aim of providing innovative and affordable stem cell and exosome therapies to a wider range of patients, including those from poorer backgrounds. The centre will focus on developing advanced stem cell treatments that can potentially help repair damaged tissues and improve outcomes for conditions that are hard to treat with conventional medicine. Officials said the initiative is meant to make high-end therapies more accessible by lowering costs and supporting clinical research. This step is part of broader efforts to boost regenerative medicine capabilities in the public health system while making care more equitable.
