Finance ministers from non-NDA ruled states held a key meeting in Delhi to discuss the central government’s proposed GST rate revisions. The session was led by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who guided talks on possible changes and their impact.
Telangana Finance Minister Batti Vikramarka joined counterparts from Tamil Nadu, Punjab, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Kerala. The ministers debated how the revisions could affect state revenues and businesses, stressing the need to protect regional interests.
The consultation aims to build a joint stance before submitting recommendations to the Union government. Leaders expressed concern about increasing fiscal pressure and tax burdens on citizens. They agreed that coordination among states is crucial to ensuring fair taxation and balanced policy.
The meeting underlined the importance of collective dialogue in shaping national tax reforms while safeguarding the financial stability of individual states.
