Cricket legend Roger Binny has resigned as the BCCI President in line with the board’s rule that bars individuals above 70 years of age from holding the top post. Respecting this guideline, he stepped down voluntarily.
During his tenure, Binny introduced several administrative and cricketing initiatives, earning respect for his leadership and commitment to Indian cricket. However, the mandatory age restriction required a leadership change.
Following his resignation, Rajiv Shukla has been appointed as the interim president. He will handle the board’s day-to-day affairs until a new president is elected. His responsibilities include overseeing domestic tournaments, player contracts, and preparations for international fixtures.
Fans and administrators praised Binny’s contribution, both as a former cricketer and as an administrator. The BCCI assured that the transition will be smooth and efficient, ensuring continuity in governance and development of the game across the country.
