Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said that a joint statement on the India–U.S. trade deal will be released in the next four to five days. He added that the formal legal agreement is expected to be completed by mid-March.
The Minister said that once the joint statement is issued, the United States will reduce tariffs on Indian goods to 18%. However, India will be able to cut tariffs on U.S. products only after the final legal agreement is signed. This step-by-step process is meant to protect India’s interests while moving forward with the deal.
Mr. Goyal said the agreement aims to improve trade relations, boost exports, and create more business opportunities for both countries. He added that talks between the two sides are progressing well and are based on mutual benefit.
The trade deal is expected to help Indian industries gain better access to the U.S. market and strengthen economic ties between the two nations.
