The Telangana government plans to train over 800 farmers as volunteers to improve vegetable cultivation and address shortages in the state. These farmers will be taught the best farming techniques, modern tools, and pest control methods. The trained volunteers will then help other farmers in their villages by sharing knowledge and guiding them on how to grow vegetables efficiently.
The program aims to increase vegetable production, reduce dependence on imports from other states, and ensure fresh vegetables are available locally. Farmers will also learn about high-yield seeds, proper irrigation, and organic farming practices.
The government hopes that by creating a network of skilled farmer-volunteers, Telangana can solve supply gaps, support rural livelihoods, and promote sustainable agriculture. The initiative is part of the state’s efforts to strengthen the farming community and make vegetable cultivation more profitable and efficient for small and large farmers alike.
