The Central government has approved ₹2,432 crore for the Amended BharatNet project in Andhra Pradesh. The agreement (MoC) was signed in Amaravati in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
Under this project, high-speed broadband internet will be provided to 13,426 village panchayats across the State. The main aim is to improve digital connectivity in rural areas and ensure better last-mile access, which means internet services will directly reach homes, schools, hospitals, and local offices.
Officials said the upgraded network will maintain 98% uptime, ensuring reliable and continuous internet services. The project is part of the Amended BharatNet programme, which focuses on strengthening digital infrastructure in villages.
This initiative is expected to boost online education, telemedicine, e-governance services, and digital payments in rural Andhra Pradesh. It will also help create job opportunities and support small businesses by improving internet access in remote areas.
