Fixed charges on electricity bills reduced in Bihar will help thousands of small shop owners save money. The state government started the new rule on April 1 to reduce electricity costs for small commercial users.
Under the new rule, small urban shops with 0.5-kilowatt connections will pay lower fixed charges. Earlier, shopkeepers paid ₹200 per month. Now they will pay ₹150 per month.
This change will help many small traders such as paan shop owners and small vendors. They can save about ₹600 every year on electricity bills. Around 20,000 shopkeepers across the state may benefit from this step.
Officials also cut the fixed charge for low-tension industrial consumers by ₹10. This move will reduce costs for small industries.
The decision aims to support small businesses that face rising expenses. Because of this step, fixed charges on electricity bills reduced in Bihar will make monthly power bills easier to manage for many traders.
