Bihar Police New Border Units have been formed to strengthen security along the India–Nepal border. The state police created four special teams to stop illegal activities such as drug smuggling, fake currency circulation, and human trafficking. These teams will monitor sensitive border areas and act quickly against criminal networks.
Officials said the Bihar Police New Border Units include officers from the Special Task Force, intelligence units, and coordination with the Sashastra Seema Bal. The teams will run joint operations and respond to intelligence inputs. Their main aim is to break cross-border crime networks and improve surveillance in vulnerable regions.
STF DIG Neeraj Kumar Singh said police have already taken strong action this year. Authorities registered 128 cases linked to illegal activities and arrested 146 suspects. Police also seized more than 6,000 kilograms of narcotics during several operations.
The teams are now identifying major border hotspots where smuggling and trafficking often take place. A dedicated cell inside the STF will focus on tracking drug traffickers and dismantling their networks across the border region.
