VANPIC Case: Telangana High Court Dismisses ED Petition

VANPIC Case Telangana High Court dismisses ED petition over attached properties

The VANPIC Case has dealt another blow to the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The Telangana High Court dismissed the agency’s petition challenging the release of properties attached in the case. The court supported the earlier order issued by the Appellate Tribunal.

In the VANPIC Case, the ED had attached several properties while investigating alleged money laundering linked to the project. Later, the Appellate Tribunal directed the agency to release those assets. The ED then approached the Telangana High Court and sought a stay on the tribunal’s order.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the High Court found no merit in the ED’s plea. The bench upheld the tribunal’s decision and rejected the petition. The ruling marks a significant setback for the agency’s efforts to retain control over the attached assets.

The case relates to allegations of irregularities and quid pro quo deals in land allotments for the VANPIC port and industrial corridor project. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has also investigated the matter, while related legal proceedings continue in higher courts.

The ED launched a separate money laundering probe and attached properties linked to the project. However, both the tribunal and the High Court have now favored the release of those assets. The latest ruling adds another important chapter to the long-running legal battle surrounding the project.
