Meghalaya Police chargesheet in Raja Raghuvanshi murder case has taken a major turn with the filing of a 790-page document against five accused in the Sohra Sub-Division Court, Shillong. The police also submitted strong material evidence and several enclosures to support the case.
The accused named in the chargesheet include Sonam Raghuvanshi, Raj Kushwaha, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Ashish Singh Rajput, and Aanand Kurmi. They face charges under Sections 103(1), 238(a), and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to Meghalaya Police, Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam, residents of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, visited Shillong for their honeymoon on May 21, 2025, before traveling to Sohra in Cherrapunji. On May 26, the couple went missing, triggering a massive search operation. Teams from Sohra Police, the Special Operations Team (SOT), NDRF, SDRF, trekking groups, and local villagers joined the rescue efforts.
After days of extensive searches, Raja’s body was discovered on June 2 in a deep gorge near Wei Sawdong in Sohra. Following this discovery, police registered a case and intensified the investigation.
The Meghalaya Police chargesheet in Raja Raghuvanshi murder case now sets the stage for legal proceedings, with the evidence pointing strongly toward the accused.
