Congress Slams PM Modi for Tribute to RSS

Congress Slams PM Modi for RSS tribute

The headline Congress Slams PM Modi for Tribute to RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat has triggered a political storm. The Opposition said the Prime Minister’s article on Bhagwat’s 75th birthday was a desperate attempt to please the Sangh leadership.

In his piece, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Mohan Bhagwat’s leadership since 2009. He called it the most transformative period in the RSS’s 100-year history. Modi described Bhagwat as a living example of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. He also said the RSS chief devoted his life to harmony, fraternity, and social reform.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh dismissed the tribute as “over-the-top.” He noted that Modi mentioned Swami Vivekananda’s speech in Chicago in 1893. The PM also recalled the 9/11 terror attacks in the US. But, according to Ramesh, Modi ignored Mahatma Gandhi’s first satyagraha call in Johannesburg on September 11, 1906. Ramesh said this omission showed the PM’s disregard for Gandhi’s values.

He went further, accusing Modi of presenting his speeches like divine sermons. “The very word satya is alien to him,” Ramesh wrote on X. His sharp criticism gained traction on social media, with many Opposition supporters echoing his views.

The BJP defended Modi’s words. Party leaders said the tribute reflected his respect for traditions and key figures. They argued that Congress was only trying to divert attention from its own lack of vision.

The row has dominated national debate. With Congress Slams PM Modi for Tribute to RSS Chief trending widely, analysts say the episode highlights the RSS’s influence in Indian politics. The clash once again revealed deep divisions between BJP and Congress on ideology, leadership, and legacy.
