Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Assam Bioethanol Plant and laid the foundation stone for a polypropylene unit at Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in Golaghat on Sunday. With this, the government aims to promote clean energy and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
PM Modi said September 14 marks a milestone in the journey towards a developed Assam and a developed India. He announced projects worth nearly ₹18,000 crore for the state. Earlier in Darrang, he laid foundation stones for new connectivity and health projects. At Golaghat, he inaugurated energy security projects that will strengthen Assam’s role in India’s growth.
The Prime Minister highlighted Assam’s importance in powering India, noting that petroleum products from the state significantly support the nation’s development. He stressed that his government is determined to take this strength to new heights. He also inaugurated a modern bamboo-based bioethanol plant, calling it a matter of pride for Assam.
Modi said these projects will accelerate industrial growth, create opportunities for farmers and youth, and boost employment. He emphasized that India is moving toward self-reliance in energy, working on new crude reserves, expanding green energy, and exploring oil and gas reserves through the National Deepwater Exploration Mission.
