Bihar Minister Chased by Villagers After 9 Deaths in Road Accident

Bihar minister chased by angry villagers after road accident deaths in Nalanda

A tragic road accident in Nalanda district of Bihar, which left nine people dead including eight women, triggered public outrage in the region. The victims were travelling to take part in a religious ritual when their vehicle overturned, causing immense grief to families.

Rural Development Minister Shrawan Kumar, along with JD(U) MLA Krishna Murari Sharan, visited Malawan village to meet the bereaved households. But instead of a peaceful condolence meet, their arrival sparked fury among locals. Villagers accused the government of failing to provide immediate and adequate compensation. Many demanded urgent financial aid to carry out last rites and rituals.

As frustration boiled over, the crowd turned aggressive. Armed with sticks and stones, locals chased the minister’s convoy for nearly a kilometre. In the commotion, some security personnel were injured and the minister had to switch vehicles to escape the mob. Police finally dispersed the protest and ensured the leaders’ safe exit.

The ruling JD(U) claimed that initial relief money had already been given to the families, while accusing rival groups of instigating anger. The incident, however, underlined the growing impatience of rural communities who expect swift justice and financial assistance after such tragedies.
