The Indian Navy is set to induct another warship today as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen maritime security and counter potential submarine threats. The INS Androth will be formally commissioned at the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam.
This marks the Navy’s second Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) shallow-water craft, designed to detect and neutralize enemy submarines with advanced light torpedoes and anti-submarine rockets. Developed under the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, around 80% of the INS Androth’s components are indigenous, reflecting India’s growing self-reliance in defense manufacturing.
The ship’s state-of-the-art capabilities will enhance the Navy’s operational readiness in shallow and coastal waters, providing a strategic edge in maritime defense. With this addition, the Indian Navy continues to modernize its fleet, ensuring robust protection of the country’s coastline and strengthening deterrence against underwater threats in the region.
