A tragic incident has shaken the Rajasthan Police after a constable died by suicide in Jaisalmer Police Line.
The incident came to light on Saturday morning when the constable failed to step out of his room.
The deceased has been identified as Constable Narendra Meena.
He was posted at the Jaisalmer Police Line and lived in a government quarter.
Colleagues grew suspicious when his room remained locked for a long time.
Police personnel broke open the door and found Narendra lying in a pool of blood.
His service revolver was found near the body.
Initial findings suggest he shot himself using his official weapon.
Sources said Narendra was alone at the time of the incident.
His family had gone to their native district, Sawai Madhopur, a few days earlier.
Police did not find any suicide note at the scene.
The reason behind the extreme step remains unclear.
Senior police officers reached the spot soon after receiving information.
The forensic science team collected evidence from the room.
Police seized the service revolver for examination.
Officials said the post-mortem will take place after family members arrive from Sawai Madhopur.
