Telangana Govt’s Ticket Price U-Turn Creates Buzz

Akhanda 2 ticket prices debate grows as Telangana minister rejects future hikes, shaping a new policy for the film industry.

The Division Bench of the Telangana High Court has cancelled the Single Bench order that struck down the government’s approval for increased ticket prices and premiere shows for Akhanda-2, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna. As a result, the ticket prices across Telangana will continue without any changes. This verdict triggered strong political and industry reactions.

Soon after the judgment, Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy made sharp comments. He stated that the government will not increase ticket prices for any film in the future. He added that the priority of the Indiramma government is to protect poor families who regularly attend movies.

The minister also urged film producers and directors not to approach him for ticket price hikes. He questioned the need for huge remunerations for actors and directors, and asked why ordinary viewers should bear that burden through higher ticket charges. He stressed that cinema should remain affordable for everyone.

Komatireddy admitted that the recent approval for Akhanda-2 was a mistake. His remarks quickly became a hot topic in the Telugu film industry. Many insiders are now watching how this policy stance will influence upcoming big releases in the state.
