The Truck Parking Poor Roads issue dominated the latest meeting of the South Goa District Road Safety and Traffic Committee. Members raised serious concern about how Truck Parking Poor Roads continues to threaten daily commuters, especially along key highway stretches.

Consumer rights activist Lorna Fernandes urged authorities to create a truck terminus. She said truck drivers park along NH66 at Cuncolim because they lack a proper facility. Many drivers even cook under their vehicles, which increases the risk of accidents and traffic obstruction. She argued that a truck terminus will ease pressure on highways in Cuncolim and Ponda.

Committee members also discussed poor illumination on the Nuvem–Arlem stretch of the Eastern Bypass. Locals struggle to navigate dark roads at night, making the bypass unsafe. Participants further objected to political hoardings placed on electric poles, calling them a distraction and a public hazard.

Activists highlighted potholes, stray cattle, broken road shoulders, and non-functional traffic signals across Salcete. They said these problems demand urgent action, not repeated assurances. The committee agreed to send meeting minutes to the government and requested immediate intervention.

Residents hope authorities respond quickly so South Goa roads become safer, smoother, and more disciplined for every road user.
