Amaravati: The *Andhra Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (APMRCL)* is moving forward with ambitious plans to complete the *Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada metro rail projects by 2028, according to APMRCL MD **Ramakrishna Reddy*.
He announced that metro rail tenders will allow a maximum of *three-company joint ventures (JVs)* to participate. In Visakhapatnam, the metro will cover *46.23 km, while Vijayawada’s network will span **38 km. Around **40% of the civil works* tenders have already been floated.
Interested firms must submit bids by *October 10 for Visakhapatnam* and *October 14 for Vijayawada, ensuring the projects move quickly toward execution. Reddy emphasized that both projects are designed to be completed in a **record timeframe* to meet the 2028 target.
The metro networks are expected to significantly improve urban connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and provide modern, eco-friendly transportation options for the growing cities of Andhra Pradesh.
