The Telangana government is preparing to move ahead with local body elections despite the ongoing court case regarding 42% reservations for BCs (Backward Classes) . Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is scheduled to meet the Advocate General today to seek legal advice on the matter. Based on the suggestions of legal experts, a decision on conducting the elections could be finalized soon.
Meanwhile, the gazette notification for Zilla Parishad (ZP) chairpersons has already been released. District collectors are expected to submit the final list of reservations for the remaining seats to the government by the end of the day.
The move signals the state’s intent to hold elections without further delay, even as the reservation issue remains under judicial review. Political observers say the decision will set the tone for the upcoming rural polls and test the government’s legal and administrative strategy.
