The Bihar Grand Alliance seat-sharing talks are in their final phase as eight parties, including RJD, Congress, CPI(ML), CPI, CPM, Mukesh Sahni’s VIP, RLJP, and JMM, prepare for the upcoming election. Negotiations, led by Tejashwi Yadav and Lalu Prasad Yadav, have become intense with multiple seat demands.
CPI(ML) has demanded 40 seats but may get 20–25. Congress, which contested 70 seats in 2020, is seeking 60–66 this time, while CPI wants 24 and CPM 20. Mukesh Sahni’s VIP has asked for 60 seats and the Deputy Chief Minister post but might get only 20. JMM, joining the alliance for the first time, is likely to secure 3–6 seats.
In 2020, RJD contested 144 seats and won 75, marking a 50% strike rate. This time, it may contest only 130–135, giving 10–15 seats from its quota to allies. The Bihar Grand Alliance seat-sharing process is tougher than in 2020 due to more parties joining. Final numbers will be revealed once the alliance officially announces its formation.
