Andhra Pradesh is facing heavy rainfall due to a severe low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, while visiting Dubai, has been in constant contact with state officials. He discussed the situation in rain-affected districts including Nellore, Prakasam, Bapatla, Kadapa, and Tirupati. Naidu instructed the Home Minister to ensure machinery readiness and precautionary measures.
The Chief Minister recommended deploying National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams to the worst-hit areas. He emphasised immediate steps to protect lives and property. Coordination was advised among the Revenue, Disaster Management, Police, Irrigation, Municipal, Roads and Buildings (R&B), and Electricity departments to manage the situation efficiently.
Evacuation orders were issued for residents in low-lying areas to safer locations. Officials informed Naidu that control rooms have been established in South Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema districts. The Chief Minister also proposed strengthening canals and ponds in vulnerable regions to prevent breaches and damage.
Naidu further urged the setting up of medical camps to address potential risks of infectious diseases after heavy rainfall. The administration was instructed to closely monitor the situation and report progress regularly. Citizens were advised to follow safety guidelines and cooperate with local authorities for smooth rescue operations.
