Fast-Track GST Registration for Small and Low-Risk Businesses Begins November 1
Starting November 1, small and low-risk businesses in India can obtain Goods and Services Tax (GST) registration within three days under a new streamlined scheme. The system will automatically identify eligible businesses through data analysis, or applicants can self-assess if their output tax liability is expected to remain below ₹2.5 lakh per month. Once approved, registration will be granted rapidly, helping small entrepreneurs comply with tax laws without unnecessary delays. The move aims to reduce procedural bottlenecks and promote ease of doing business, especially for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Officials noted that the scheme will also include safeguards to ensure only genuinely low-risk applicants are fast-tracked, minimizing potential misuse. Experts say this initiative could boost formalisation, increase revenue compliance, and support small business growth across the country by simplifying regulatory procedures.
