Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Naveen Mahajan has clarified that the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Rajasthan is not solely about deleting outdated entries but is equally focused on adding new and eligible voters to build a clean, accurate, and inclusive electoral roll. Speaking during a KeyNote session moderated by First India News CEO and Managing Editor Pawan Arora, Mahajan said the revision exercise plays a crucial role in strengthening democratic participation.

He explained that the core objective of SIR is to identify and remove entries of deceased, shifted, or duplicate voters while simultaneously enrolling first-time voters, especially the youth who have recently turned 18. Addressing public concerns over Aadhaar and mobile number collection, Mahajan reassured that the Election Commission of India follows stringent data-protection protocols to safeguard citizens’ privacy.

Emphasizing the scale of the exercise, Mahajan revealed that over 52,000 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have received intensive training to ensure accuracy during field verification. He also confirmed that the final electoral roll will be published on February 7.

The discussion concluded with Mahajan offering insights into his administrative philosophy and how sports continue to shape his discipline, teamwork, and work ethic.
