Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Dr. Kirori Lal Meena addressed the ongoing farmers’ agitation in Hanumangarh’s Tibbi area, where locals are protesting against a new ethanol plant. Meena highlighted that the land was allotted following an MoU signed during the previous Congress government. He stressed that the project will become one of India’s largest ethanol units.
Meena criticized Congress MLAs for supporting the protest despite their party’s earlier approval of the project. He acknowledged that farmers have the right to voice concerns but warned that violence creates a hostile environment that can deter investors. He urged farmers to present their demands through democratic channels.
The minister emphasized Rajasthan’s Marwari community’s contribution to industrial growth across India, saying that a positive investment climate benefits everyone. He added that he personally visited the area four times and coordinated with farmers through the district collector to address their issues.
Meena also appealed to former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Congress leader Sachin Pilot to meet farmers directly on-site instead of issuing statements remotely. He concluded that dialogue, not disruption, will ensure industrial growth and maintain the state’s development trajectory, warning that aggressive protests could stall progress.
