Government Weighs Options to Utilise Rushikonda Buildings for Public Benefit
The Andhra Pradesh government is considering multiple options to put the buildings constructed at Rushikonda to effective use, with a focus on public benefit and sustainable revenue generation. Ministers have stated that the structures, developed by the Tourism Department, will not remain idle and will be utilised in a manner that serves larger public interests.
According to officials, the government is examining proposals such as converting the buildings into tourism-related facilities, convention centres, guest houses, or public infrastructure that can support administrative and cultural activities. The objective is to ensure that the investments made are optimally leveraged while creating employment opportunities and boosting tourism in the region.
Ministers emphasised that transparency and long-term sustainability would guide the decision-making process. Revenue generated from the utilisation of the Rushikonda buildings would be reinvested into tourism development and maintenance of public assets. The government is expected to take a final decision after consultations with experts and stakeholders, ensuring balanced development along the coastal region.
