Senior BJP leader and actor Mithun Chakraborty on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal. Addressing a public rally in Cooch Behar, he alleged deliberate attempts to turn the state into “West Bangladesh.”
Chakraborty said such efforts would never succeed. He declared that as long as there was “even a drop of blood” in his body, Bengal would remain part of India. He accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of behaving as if West Bengal were a separate country.
The BJP leader criticised Banerjee’s remarks against Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He said no chief minister had the right to question a central minister’s movement within the country. Chakraborty warned that such thinking could damage national unity.
Referring to his film The Kashmir Files, he claimed similar tactics were now being tried in Bengal. He alleged harassment of artists and restrictions on religious expressions. He also accused the state government of encouraging fear and silence.
Chakraborty claimed Bengal lacked industries, jobs, and strong healthcare facilities. He blamed corruption for the state’s decline. He further criticised the state government for refusing to implement the Ayushman Bharat health scheme.
He appealed to Congress, Left, and “honest” TMC supporters to unite. He said only a united stand could remove the current government in the upcoming elections.
