Hyderabad: Continuous rains triggered by a Bay of Bengal low-pressure system battered Telangana, flooding several districts. Medak, Siddipet, and Warangal recorded widespread damage. In Gauraram of Siddipet, 23.5 cm of rainfall submerged houses and disrupted normal life. Overflowing tanks in Varghal, Mulugu, and Gajwel pushed water onto roads, creating severe traffic jams. Farmers lost over 200 acres of crops as fields went under water.
Floodwaters surged through Dubbaaka, swelling Kudavelli stream, while Haldi Vagu near Gajwel snapped road links. Medak district suffered broken embankments, and colonies in Toopran turned into waterlogged pockets. In Sangareddy, flood currents carried away a car, but the driver managed to escape. Mulugu and Mancherial residents waded through knee-deep water after streets and houses went under floods.
Heavy rains disrupted coal operations in Bhupalpally and Mancherial. At Kakatiya mines, workers managed only one shift as floodwaters blocked trucks and vehicles. Rising inflows in the Godavari and its tributaries deepened the crisis.
NDRF teams rescued stranded villagers and livestock from low-lying zones. In Warangal agency areas, officials shifted families to safer shelters. Ministers inspected flood-hit districts and urged citizens to stay cautious, warning that more heavy rainfall may follow.
