A powerful earthquake struck Afghanistan at midnight on Sunday, killing at least 622 people and injuring over 800. The tremor flattened several villages, and visuals show the massive scale of destruction. Officials fear the death toll may rise as rescue teams continue operations.
The quake caused many houses to collapse, trapping residents under the debris. Emergency teams are working round the clock to rescue survivors. Poor infrastructure and weak communication lines are slowing down the relief efforts.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy. In a social media post, he said: “I am deeply saddened by the loss of lives caused by the earthquake in Afghanistan. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims, and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured.”
PM Modi also assured that India is ready to provide all possible humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. His message stands as a strong gesture of solidarity and support in this hour of crisis.
