Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, and expressed his deep concern over the recent attacks in Doha. PM Modi said that India strongly condemns the violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and stands firmly for peace and stability in the region. He also stressed that issues must be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.
During the conversation, PM Modi appreciated Qatar’s efforts to promote regional peace, including its mediation in Gaza for a ceasefire and the release of hostages. Sheikh Tamim thanked PM Modi for India’s solidarity with the people of Qatar.
Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the progress of the India-Qatar Strategic Partnership and agreed to further strengthen cooperation in trade, security, and other areas of mutual interest. They decided to remain in close contact.
The call came after Israeli strikes hit Doha on Tuesday. Following this, India’s Ministry of External Affairs also voiced “deep concern” and urged all parties to exercise restraint and focus on diplomacy.
PM Modi’s phone call to the Emir of Qatar highlighted India’s consistent stand against terrorism and its strong support for regional peace and stability.
