Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Patna on Thursday (September 18, 2025). The meeting came hours before Shah began a series of interactions with BJP leaders and workers in Rohtas and Begusarai districts. With Assembly elections due later this year, the discussions drew sharp political attention.
Nitish Kumar, who also heads the JD(U), called the meeting a “courtesy call.” Still, observers linked it to election preparations. The JD(U) and BJP, as allies in the NDA, are working to strengthen their joint strategy in Bihar.
BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal said that Amit Shah would meet party workers from 10 districts in the Magadh-Shahabad region. The event took place at Dehri-on-Sone, an industrial hub around 50 km from Patna. Shah is expected to focus on booth-level preparation and grassroots outreach, key to the BJP’s strategy in Bihar.
Later, Shah moved to Begusarai, a politically significant district and Lok Sabha constituency of Union Minister Giriraj Singh. There, he interacted with leaders and workers from another 10 districts. Begusarai has emerged as a BJP stronghold, and Shah’s visit aimed to consolidate party support ahead of the polls.
The BJP wants to energize its cadre, expand its voter base, and counter opposition alliances. Nitish Kumar’s meeting with Shah highlighted ongoing cooperation between JD(U) and BJP. Leaders from both parties stress that coordination will be crucial in deciding candidate selection, campaigning style, and regional focus areas.
As Bihar prepares for a high-stakes election, the alliance is working to present a united front while sharpening its organizational machinery across the state
