India and UAE Deepen Ties With Defence Partnership, LNG Deal and $200 Billion Trade Target
India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed to deepen their strategic partnership with major pacts covering defence cooperation, energy and trade. During high‑level talks in New Delhi, the two nations set an ambitious goal to double bilateral trade to USD 200 billion by 2032, building on strong economic ties established under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. As part of this, they signed a long‑term liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply deal under which the UAE will provide India with 0.5 million tonnes of LNG annually over a decade, strengthening India’s energy security. A letter of intent for a strategic defence partnership was also agreed, marking closer collaboration on defence manufacturing, training and security cooperation. Artificial intelligence was identified as another priority, with both sides planning to collaborate on technology projects such as a supercomputing cluster and expanded data infrastructure. These developments reflect growing cooperation across energy, defence, technology and trade, aimed at deepening ties and boosting mutual growth.
