India–Nepal border rules changed, and travelers must now undergo a health screening before entering Nepal through key border checkpoints. Authorities introduced the new measure to stop the spread of infectious diseases and strengthen health monitoring at the border.
Under the updated system, India–Nepal border rules changed at the Triveni checkpoint, where officials now require every traveler to complete a health check before crossing into Nepal. Anyone who skips the screening will not receive entry permission.
Health workers will operate a permanent health assistance desk at the border. They will conduct screening between 6 AM and 6 PM daily. In some cases, officials may also collect blood samples from travelers if they suspect infection.
Authorities say the move aims to detect diseases such as malaria, dengue, and HIV early and prevent them from spreading across the border. The Nepal government has also released funds to set up the health facility and deploy staff.
Officials have issued similar alert orders at other nearby border crossings, including Sonauli and Thuthibari, and plan to strengthen monitoring in the future.
